affect on pricing and market share, as well as revising 2015 and 2016
    estimates.
LVT is the strongest growing sector of the U.S. floor
coverings industry.  U.S. shipments plus imports are
expected to reach $1.1 billion during 2014 or 5.3% of
total floor covering sales.  This is up from only 1.6% in
2007. We forecast that LVT will climb to over 9% of
flooring sales in 2019.

Demand has been driven by new print technologies and
installation methods that, combined with the product's
waterproof characteristics, has expanded LVT's use to
every room of the home and commercial applications.

Asian and European manufacturers have been the primary
beneficiaries of this growth but now U.S. domestic
manufacturers are building plants that will add new
capacity. The goal of this report was to determine how this
new capacity will affect the balance of supply and demand,
prices and profitability.

To answer these question, Stuart Hirschhorn of Catalina
Reports analyzed the  domestic and global LVT market to
produce the industry's first statistical report on luxury vinyl
tile. For the first time ever, flooring industry veteren,
James Gould, President of the Floor Covering Institute,
lends his insights, expertise and observations about the
market, products, distribution, barriers to market entry
and strategic thinking.
The Flooring Industry's First Report on Luxury Vinyl Tile
End-use market trends are correlated with U.S. housing demand, nonresidential construction
spending, mortgage interest rates, and other housing and economic indicators to uncover
the factors affecting demand, and provide insights into the direction of domestic demand in
    2015 and beyond.
Production and sales by world area are provided.  Chinese and South
Korean export shipments by major country of destination are provided as
well.  The U.S., Asian and European production capacity being built is
matched with future growth to determine if an over capacity situation will
    develop.
